When it first came into the world, natural deodorant reeked of issues. They weren't particularly easy to use, nor were they able to keep you smelling fresh until the end of the day. But after years of research, cosmetic chemists kept chugging until they found formulas that are just as good as the other deodorants you know and love. (A quick refresher: Natural deodorants contain no aluminum, which is what antiperspirants use to prevent your body from producing sweat.) Still, there's nothing worse than taking a chance on a natural deodorant to have it to melt down at the most inopportune time—which is why we called on Glamour staffers to sweat the problem for you. We tested dozens of options to narrow down which aluminum-free deodorants hold up to their claims. Here are the ones that withstood the heat.

Dove 0% Aluminum Deodorant
I'm something of a natural-deodorant savant, if you will. I've tried nearly every one since the first-generation version scame out years ago. The first thing I noticed about the Dove 0% Aluminum Deodorant is that it didn't sting. Some natural deodorants contain baking soda to absorb sweat, which can be irritating, while others use alcohol, which can burn a little if you have any nicks or abrasions from shaving, but Dove has neither. I also liked that while the stick is white, the creamy formula disappears once it's on your skin—a plus come summer. And I'm impressed by how good the deodorizing is. Unless I'm doing hot yoga, it's one of the best options I've tried. —Deanna Pai, beauty contributor

Magababe Rosy Pits Deodorant
Megababe has garnered somewhat of a cult following due to it's Instagram-friendly packaging and destigmatization of the less cute aspects of beauty (boob sweat and thigh chafing included). And the products really work. Despite the femme packaging and rosy name, it actually has a very earthy and clean smell. I'm usually not a fan of natural deodorants, I find them sticky and ineffective, but this one does the trick. It keeps B.O. at bay and is comfortable to wear, and doesn't leave white streaks on my clothes. No wonder it has a 13,000 people waiting list. —Bella Cacciatore, beauty assistant
Freedom Natural Deodorant
I've been trying to switch over all my beauty products to all natural ingredients, and the one thing I'm having a really hard time with is deodorant. Freedom Deodorant has been the best and only natural deodorant that has worked for me. After a year of trying almost every option on the market, it's the only one that's kept me fresh for hours. —Azadeh Valanejad, social video producer

Tarte Clean Queen Vegan Deodorant
I've been wanting to make the switch to natural deodorants ever since reading up on the potential side effects of using deodorants with aluminum, but the versions I've tried in the past have always irritated my skin and felt too damp. (Who wants to feel sweatier than when they started?) Tarte's deodorant, however, exceeded my expectations for a natural deodorant. The stick has the same soft, powderlike consistency of my old go-to antiperspirant, but without the potentially harmful formula. I love the scent too: It's crisp and clean but not overpowering. I naturally sweat a lot, but I smelled like fresh linens throughout the entire day with Tarte's deo. I'm sold. —Halie LeSavage, fashion contributor
